MY PLATFORM

My platform is summed up in my motto: “Faith, Family, and Freedom”. These three principles are, and always will be, what has made America great. They were the foundation of our Republic, they have been the foundation of my life, and they are the foundation of my campaign.

The purpose of government is to ensure that we can live our Faith, provide for our Families and to protect our rights to ensure our Freedoms.

Faith:

“Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.”

- Proverbs 3:27 (KJV)

As someone who has trusted in Christ as my Saviour, I understand that, while we’re all imperfect, we were made in the image of God. As such we’re all deserving of love and respect. My faith has taught me that the golden rule still applies and that we should treat people as we ourselves would like to be treated.

Family:

My husband and I chose to live in Jefferson County 8 years ago. We moved here from Maryland. This is an ideal place to raise a family: friendly people and open spaces. We love to participate in the wholesome and healthy outdoor activities that our county has to offer. For a family, Jefferson County truly is “Almost Heaven”. As my children grow up and prepare to embark on their life’s journey it’s my job to work to ensure that Jefferson County continues to be an amazing place for them to raise their families.

Freedom:

Freedom is about individual rights given to us by our Creator. Freedom is what allows us to take responsibility for our lives, to help others and to be all that we can be. During the pandemic, we witnessed how quickly fear can lead to the erosion of our individual freedoms.

Why I’m Running….

As your County Commissioner my priorities will be:

To work to make and keep our county safe.We need to fight illegal drug use and to help those who have addiction problems to recover and to lead productive and happy lives. We must ensure that our first responders have what they need in order to save lives.As the mother of a high school student who is also a certified EMT in Jefferson County, I understand this.That’s why I plan on ensuring that our EMS, Fire, and Police have all the resources they need to do their jobs.
To promote an economic climate that will provide opportunity to help families succeed.We need to make Jefferson County a great place for the businesses that provide jobs --- especially small businesses.We need to ensure that all businesses are operated safely but we have to balance that need with an understanding of what businesses need to thrive and serve our community.I pledge to work with all stakeholders to make Jefferson County a welcoming place for the businesses we need and want and to provide a level playing field with sensible regulation.
In addition to Faith, Family and Freedom we need to add Fiscal Responsibility.We need to “right size” our local government to ensure that necessary services are provided without creating an undue burden on the taxpayer.Jefferson County is a relatively high tax location. I pledge to work to make sure that all county agencies are run professionally and efficiently. Through the budgeting process we need to ensure that taxpayer money is allocated to the right places and that funds are spent wisely.

One more thing that is a pet peeve of mine: litter! I see far too much trash laying around and I feel we need to address it. From time to time my husband and I have walked the roads, removing tires, TVs, toilets, and other assorted trash. It’s an unacceptable stain on our otherwise beautiful environment. From day one I will work with our local authorities to try to clean up this mess.

Up until now I have been a stay at home mom raising our five children. I now feel the need to get involved. I want to make sure that Jefferson County is a place where my children can live and work and raise their families.

The government that is the most important and the most relevant is the government that is closest to the people – the local county government. I want to be your county commissioner and I will work hard to earn your support.
