Meet Jennifer

Jennifer Krouse is a staunch, God-fearing conservative.  As a wife, and mother of five, she understands what issues are important to everyday families in Jefferson County and she’ll fight to give a voice to those who are increasingly ignored.

Jen grew up in suburban Maryland.  Her father, a Vietnam-era Army veteran, worked hard for his family, but things were not always easy as she grew up.  She watched her father struggle to make ends meet in an area where over-regulation and governmental intervention increasingly made it hard for middle-income families.

At 20, when she started her own family, Jen saw for herself how hard it was not only to support them, but also to raise them with the proper values.  It was at that time that she discovered her faith in a loving God.  That faith has continued to blossom throughout the years and informs her character and decision-making to this day.

As her family grew it became apparent that staying in Maryland was not an option.  Between increased regulation, high taxes, the high cost of living, and an increasingly out-of-touch school curriculum Jen knew that her family no longer belonged in the state.

With baby number four on the way in 2012, Jen decided she had had enough with the freedom- and income-killing policies of Maryland.  In April of 2013 Jen moved her family to Shepherdstown, West Virginia.  She has never regretted moving to a state that still respects faith, family, and freedom.  She loves West Virginia, and plans to make Jefferson County her family home for generations to come.

Although Jen has always closely followed politics, she had never considered getting involved herself until the summer of 2020. She saw the freedom-killing policies she’d left behind in Maryland invading her adopted home state.  She saw seemingly unaccountable politicians lock down businesses, close public schools, and demonize our men and women in law enforcement.  She watched as multiple restaurants and other businesses were permanently closed in downtown Shepherdstown.  She saw the devastating effects the loss of in-person education had on her children.  She reached out to her state and local representatives, but her concerns fell on deaf ears.

Jen realized that if she wanted Jefferson County to maintain the values that originally brought her here - if she wanted individuals, parents, and businesses to have the freedom to make their own decisions - she would have to get involved herself.

Jen lives in Shepherdstown with her husband Aaron, and three of her children Gabriel (17), Charlotte (8), and William (5) who all attend Jefferson County public schools.  Her daughter, Casey (23), and granddaughter Freya (0) live in Inwood.  Her oldest daughter, Shannon (26), lives in Florida with her husband.
